SANGO KAKU
Inspired by the breathtaking foliage of the Coral Bark Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum ‘Sango Kaku’), this one-of-a-kind paper artwork captures the tree’s dynamic beauty. Known for its vibrant coral-red bark, which deepens in hue during colder months, this beloved tree also showcases a striking seasonal transformation—its bright green spring foliage shifts into radiant shades of yellow, orange, and red in the fall.
Handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, this piece is created using 3/8” high strips of paper, glued on their edges in a technique reminiscent of quilling or paper filigree.
The frame itself is an artwork in its own right. Crafted by our local framer, its rounded cherry wood corners evoke a timeless Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, perfectly complementing the intricate paper design.
