Hoegaarden

JUDiTH+ROLFE was among the three artists selected to collaborate with Hoegaarden on their exclusive #GaardenSeries, a limited-time bus shelter project aimed at enhancing various parts of New York City, while promoting Hoegaarden beer.

The recipe for this refreshing wheat beer dates back to around 1445, discovered by monks in the Belgian region of Hoegaarden (then part of the Netherlands). In our installation, we designed vibrant red poppies to fit within the bench framework, paying homage to Belgium's national flower.

This project marked the conclusion of a four-part series of bus shelter bench installations across NYC during the summer of 2019. Our ephemeral bench, adorned with poppies, was situated at the Columbus Avenue / West 94 Street bus shelter from August 12th to September 7th.

Proceeds from the campaign were directed towards supporting ArtBridge, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering emerging artists to revitalize urban spaces.
