Cincinnati Children's Eastgate
Commissioned by Kolar Design for Cincinnati Children's Eastgate, a new healthcare facility, JUDiTH+ROLFE created four original artworks centered around the theme of Backyard Discoveries. The creative brief celebrates the local landscape of Ohio and the quiet joy of finding small moments of beauty in everyday surroundings.
Two concepts were developed. The first was inspired by petri dishes and featured native milkweed, common local butterfly species, and the carnation, Ohio's official state flower. The second depicted native wildflowers, red ladybugs (the state's official insect), and butterflies, produced in two colorways: blue-white, and pink-purple.
The work was designed to support a healing environment by offering moments of wonder and positive visual distraction as patients move through the facility.
